There are many types of waterproof pipe heat tape that will assist you in protecting your home. Finding a retailer is not difficult. All you have to do is visit a local retailer, hardware store, or lumber yard. Usually, you will find a large selection with various name brands, and even store generic brands. Each will usually have various benefits, but they all serve the same purpose they will protect your pipes and heat your pipes in and around your office or home.
1. Ace Insulating Pipe Wrap is a great example of waterproof pipe heat tape. This has aluminum foil closed PVC foam for maximum benefit. The self-adhesive tape allows you to add directly to piping without worrying about whether or not it will stay where you put it. This waterproof pipe heat tape comes in various sizes for your needs. Of course, because it is Ace you may be wondering what has been added to make this special. Well, how about being not only fire resistant, but vermin proof as well. What would you expect from Ace?
2. Frostex has a good supply of waterproof pipe heat tape as well. This tape usually ranges around 3 watts per foot. This is great for simply plugging in during those extra cold days where freezing pipes may be a concern. This is sold in 100 foot rolls, but this will be enough for many uses. I fund that Frostex claims this is good for up to 2 inch pipes as well.
3. WinterGard is my final example of waterproof pipe heat tape. You will get a good, double insulated tape that fits directly to pipes in and around your home or office. This tape will service pipes up to 8 inches in diameter. Not bad if you ask me.
Most waterproof pipe heat tapes will plug into any outdoor outlet. I suggest you get these on a timer, or you can get them to automatically turn on and off and preset temperatures. This is a great method, but you will usually need an extra extension to make this possible.
Protecting your home or office from the elements is an essential part of any home or office. You want to protect your investment, but more importantly, you want to protect your family and loved ones. Adding waterproof pipe heat tape to your pipes will keep unnecessary damage from occurring due to frozen pipes in the colder months.
