After you are divorced you may be tempted to continue having sexual relations with your ex-husband. This can spell trouble for both of you but it is a common situation that tends to arise after the divorce is final. If you are already involved sexually with your ex you may want to rethink what you are doing. If you see that this could be an issue for you, here are some reasons that this may occur.
1.Continuing to have sex with the person you were once married to may feel comfortable to you emotionally. This is the man that you have known more intimately than anyone else as an adult and it may just feel natural to continue to have sex with him.
2.Having sex with your ex almost ensures that you will not get involved with someone new. This relationship shields you from being hurt or rejected by a new man. You may be using this situation to protect yourself from the dating scene.
3.You may feel a loss of self-esteem and confidence after your divorce and this is the man that you trust to make you feel better. You may have unresolved feelings of inadequacy that you are hoping to fix by seeking approval from your ex-husband. If your relationship during your marriage was volatile you may be even more inclined to continue to hold on both emotionally and sexually.
Look at your reasons for continuing with this sexual arrangement and see if it is honestly one that you want to pursue. Ask yourself some hard questions about what this will lead to and if you should be looking on to the future. Relationships are often complex and multi-layered. Make sure you are doing what is in your best interest and not just giving in to physical desire.
