Super Bowl XLII 2008 Phoenix Arizona

By David Evarts

On February 3, 2008, American football fans all over the globe are going to be treated to one of the most amazing Super Bowl game locations EVER! Arizona has it all, from great weather and dry air to outstanding transportation infrastructure, and having the game in Phoenix is flat out brilliant! The rare departure from Florida shows just how impressive the new U of Phoenix stadium really is!

What about the stadium? The University of Phoenix Stadium is the most modern technology anywhere! Seating 73,000 people safely, the dome can be closed off during inclimate weather, or opened wide to allow the warmth of the sun to fill the stadium. The turf? Astro-NOTHING! There's real grass on the field! It remains outdoors til the day of the game, then gets rolled up and brought in – all 18.9-million-pounds of it! Completed in 2006, at a cost of nearly half a billion dollars, this stadium promises to provide the very best football facilities for a Super Bowl in the history of the game!

Who will be playing there on that field in February, 2008? Will the Chicago Bears rise to the occasion again this coming year? Can Indianapolis pull it off again? What commercials will prove the most outrageous? Will Bob Parsons' GoDaddy commercials be censored again? Who's playing the halftime show? If we knew, we couldn't tell, so don't ask... but we can tell you that it's going to be one of the most exciting Super Bowl experiences ever! Phoenix is prepared to pull out all of the stops in rolling out the welcome carpet for the Super Bowl, and the NFL, of course, wants it to be as big a spectacle as possible. Expect the unexpected. Count on the outrageous.

The teams will be at full steam there in Phoenix as well. The weather should prove ideal, and the dry desert air will ensure that every player is at his personal best. Unfettered by high humidity or excessive heat, we'll be seeing the best teams playing their best games!

Media coverage will be state of the art, of course – all the more so with the new stadium. Did you know that over three thousand members of the media (including some four hundred international reporters) attended the Super Bowl last year? That's a lot of journalists!

All in all, there will be over 50,000 rooms rented. To ensure that the hotels don't gouge visitors they've agreed to a non-gouging agreement that prevents them from increasing their rates. Phoenix, the University and the NFL have combined forces and put their heads together. Super Bowl 2008 promises to be a rare treat!

Now that you're all excited about it, the big question: How do you get tickets? That may be the only thing that hasn't changed. There's still no magic wand. The tickets are largely distributed by the two teams who make it to the game. But there are a few promotions and drawings flying about. Take a look around, see if you can manage to win a couple tickets for yourself! But even if you have to watch it from your living room on your big-screen TV(s) this much is for sure: Super Bowl 2008 is going to be one GREAT day for football! The kick-off is just after 4 pm local time, 6:15 pm EST. Start planning your Super Bowl party now!
