Massage is a powerful tool that helps reduce muscle pain, improve joint mobility, reduce stress, relax you, eliminate headache, and lower blood pressure to name just a few of its benefits. For massage to be effective you need to choose the style of massage that is right for you.
Massage increases the flow of blood through the tissues, cells, and muscles which provide more nutrients and oxygen to these areas. It is also known for stimulating the lymphatic flow which boosts the immune system.

Acupressure is an ancient Chinese massage technique that uses the fingers to press key points on the skin that then release tension and increase energy flow and improve circulation. Applying pressure to these points is similar to acupuncture without the needles and has an excellent record for relieving headache, menstrual cramps, back ache, and a host of other ailments.
Deep Tissue Massage is quite a vigorous massage that uses a variety of techniques to loosen the muscles. It produces excellent results for pain caused by tension, chronic pain, tendonitis, and inflammation.
Swedish Massage is the most common form of massage found throughout North America. Its primary goal is to relax the recipient. It is also excellent for improving circulation. The therapist applies an aromatherapy oil to the skin then gently kneads the muscles using smooth strokes.
Sports massage uses a variety of techniques combined and it’s used often among athletes to increase their performance and keep the body flexible. It is also used during rehabilitation if an injury has been sustained.
Shiatsu is an old Japanese practice that is similar to Chinese acupressure. It uses finger pressure to apply pressure to the acupressure points to increase the flow of energy and to increase circulation and lymphatic flow.
Aromatherapy Massage is similar to Swedish Massage but rather than using an oil for the sake of an oil, the aromatherapy oil is chosen with its healing qualities in mind.
Reiki means “universal life energy” and is a therapy that has it’s origins in the Middle East. Its objective is to move energy and bring healing energy to the body’s organs which helps balance the body and prevent the development of disease or illness. Reiki realigns the body’s chakras and dissolves toxic substance both physical an emotional.
Hot Stone Therapy is a very old art that is not used all that often in modern time. Heated stones are placed on the body in strategic positions to dilate blood vessels and increase the flow of oxygen. It’s also an excellent pre treatment prior to deep tissue work.
All of these massage techniques have a place in our modern world. They reduce muscle stress and tension, relive overall stress from the body, encourage healing of injuries, increase blood flow and oxygen while boosting the immune system to make us better able to fight disease and illness.
