Methods of Advertising Promotions and Commercials

Advertising is a key method of letting your potential customers know about your products. Product promotions let the consumer know what you have to offer. All forms of promotion are a type of commercial. There are several methods of advertising promotions and commercials that allow you to get your message out to your consumer continuously.

The very first tool you should consider is written ads. Writing good ad copy is a skill that takes time to develop. Your advertising should include words and graphics. The words need to make your potential customer want to act, and the graphics need to incorporate with the words to draw the potential consumer in. Coloring, text size, and placement all play an important role in the development of your ad. Poor ads are worse for you than not advertising at all.

Brochures - Standard size is 8 ½ inches by 11 folded into thirds. Brochures can hold plenty of information about your company and product [s]. Well designed brochures are a very popular form of advertising.

Flyers - Flyers are often enclosed in a newspaper and are an excellent choice to get product information to the consumer. They are commonly used to advertise products that are on sale.

Email - In our high tech world email is a terrific tool for promoting your company and product. You need to make sure your message is short, to the point, and that there is value in the email. Far too many companies use email to spam potential customers and much of this email simply lands in the trash bin. You also need to be sure you have the recipients permission to send email and that you have an opt out choice in your email.

Magazines - Magazine advertising is quite expensive but it also allows you to target your potential market very well. If you are planning to use magazine advertising you should select a relevant magazine. You may also be able to get some free coverage by contacting one of the writers. Many magazines feature various companies for free. You could also consider doing an article for the magazine which would then give your company a byline.

Direct Mail - Although once very popular, email has taken over a large percentage of this market. It still has potential but you need to build a mailing list and collect addresses. It can become very expensive very quickly with little return, so be sure you use carefully and target your market.

Newsletters - Newsletters can be a very powerful way of getting your message across to potential customers. A newsletter can contain useful information on a variety of related topics that hold the readers interest while still promoting what you have to offer. Newsletters can also be sent via email saving you the cost of mailings.

Newspapers - This is one of the oldest traditional forms of presenting your commercial or ad. You can buy a variety of sizes for your advertisement. The cost for publication will depend on the ad size and the distribution numbers of the newspaper. Smaller newspapers that have a lower distribution rate will cost you less however your ad will also reach fewer people.

Online Advertising - Can be in many forms. You might have a website that is used specifically to provide information on your product, you could have a chat group or forum where individuals can discuss your products and other products on the market. Forums are also great places to get solutions to problems.

Radio - Radio ads are cheaper than television and people still do listen to the radio. Radio ads are generally sold in a package which contains a specific number of ads, at a specific length of time i.e. 30 second spots, which are aired at specific times during the day. The more popular the time for airing the more it will cost. Radio ads need to be catchy and to the point so that they grab the potential customer’s attention and give them a short message they can remember. That’s why ads often use a familiar jingle. Repetition is also important.

Television - Television ads are generally very expensive and in general it can be hard to target your market. If you have a specific product that can be tied to a specific market you can get value for the cost. So let’s say you sell hockey equipment, advertising during a hockey game would target your market. However, this is not always easy to do. With the advent of the web there are more cost effect ways of marketing your product unless you are a large national distribution service such as a pharmaceutical company or a sports supplier.

Articles - Are an excellent method of getting coverage for your company. You write an article in your area of expertise then you can publish it on the web, in magazines, and newspapers. It costs you nothing but your time to write the article

Press Releases - A press release lets the world know about something of great importance going on with your company. Perhaps a new product line, an expansion, or a new location. Press releases provide free exposure for your company.

Promotional Items - Keep your company name in the minds of your customers by giving away novelty items such as pens, coffee cups, or t-shirts. These are very powerful types of advertising and they are very cost effective.

Give Aways - If you want to get attention then give something away. Make the give away large enough to get noticed and make sure you advertise the value of that give away. It’s best to run the promotion long enough to get ample interest but not so long as to loose the interest of people. Give aways are very good use of your advertising dollars.

These are just some of the more common forms of advertising. There are several methods of advertising promotions and commercials that allow you to get your message out to your consumer continuously. Use a little creativity and stand out from your competition then you’ll be sure to grab your potential customers attention.
