Daily Vitamins Are Important To Your Health

More than ever most of us are beginning to realize that we are not getting our proper nutrition just from our food and that we need to take vitamins and other nutritional supplements on a regular basis.

Your daily vitamins play some very important roles within the body. They help strengthen your immune system, slow down the process of aging, and increase your energy levels. When choosing a daily vitamin make sure you know what you need and what you are looking at.

Did you know that the least expensive ingredients in a daily vitamin are the basic minerals and vitamins? It’s all the other important nutrients that bring the cost up. That’s why you need to choose a quality broad spectrum complete daily vitamin to fill in all the nutritional holes.

You might be surprised at exactly how extensive the daily nutritional requirements of our body are. It’s a whole lot more than just a few of the basic vitamins. Your daily intake should also include the following.

Enzymes like protease and lipase which improve the body’s ability to use the nutrients you feed it. Immune boosting nutrients such as beta glucan, Echinacea, Aloe Vera, or grape seed to name just a few. Amino acids such as alpha lipoic acid, acetyl L-Carnitine, and L-Carnosine that have shown excellent results to general health in studies.

Bioflavanoids are also very important in the prevention of cancer of the breaks, colon, ovaries, gastric, endometrial, and lung. Studies have shown that adequate Bioflavanoids in the body inhibit the formation of cancer cells.

Wait, we are not done yet. Your body also needs what is referred to as Neuronutrients which play an important role in keeping your brain happy. They also help to improve cognition and memory, as well as stimulate lucid dreams, and improve sleep. Neuronutrients such as DMAE minimize the age spots that build on the brain as we get older.

Now that you know what your body needs, do you know how much of each nutrient the body requires? Most people do not and just feel comforted in popping a daily vitamin. But the fact is that unless you take the correct proportions of each of these nutrients they will do little or no good. The required proportions have been formulated after years of research.

Unfortunately many of the supplements on the market do not follow these established recommendations so you are going to have to do your own research.

There are many different amounts, sometimes minute, of each of the nutrients that are required by the body. Some of these nutrients require other nutrients to activate them and some nutrients don’t follow the metabolic path in the body on their own. For example zinc is very beneficial to the prostate but not all forms of zinc will travel the metabolic path needed to help the prostrate. Only a specific form of zinc will do this, yet many manufacturers simply provide the zinc and the message that it will help, when infact it will not unless it is the correct zinc.

How the vitamins and minerals are delivered are also critical and yet not addressed in some products. Did you know that the active ingredients in most capsules or even liquid supplements never actually reach the organs they were intended to help? That’s because the acid in your stomach damages the nutrients before they can move on. This is especially true of cheap vitamins made with binders.

However a quality manufacturer will produce a product that your body can use causing the release of the vitamins and minerals in the small intestine for maximum absorption. So be sure you trust the product you purchase so that you know it actually works.

Another common mistake is to think that simply popping a “one a day” vitamin will give you everything you need. They may meet your basic nutrients, but that’s about all and some of the cheap ones won’t even do that. There simply is not one capsule that can give you everything you need. A capsule that held everything you needed would be too big to swallow! Therefore you will have to combine a few different products to get the optimum nutritional value.

Women and men require different vitamins and nutrients. Women need nutrients that support the female hormones especially in the pre-menopausal years. Herbs such as Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Red Clover, and Mexican Yam are just a few of the herbs that work well for women. Men need a supplement that will support the prostate such as zinc, saw palmetto, and selenium to name just a few. If you are trying to slow the aging process both mentally and physically there are other supplements you should consider taking as well.

In a perfect world none of use would need to take daily vitamins or supplements because we would get all the nutrition we need from our food. But we don’t live in a perfect world and we don’t always get the proper nutrition from our foods so choosing to take quality vitamins and nutritional supplements is a wise move that will keep your body happy and healthy.
