Theodore Roosevelt was elected Vice President of the United States (with McKinley as President) on November 6, 1900. Prior to becoming VP, Roosevelt had served in a few municipal offices in NYC and as a U.S. Civil Service Commissioner in Washington, D.C. (The latter was not an elected office.)
