At one time, taking a family on a road trip vacation was the preferred way to see the country. But with national fuel prices so high more people are staying close to home. It seems that packing up the kids and supplies and heading out to Grandma's house or going on vacation are things of the past for the majority of Americans. The tourism industry has suffered immensely from this curb in travel. Despite the usual bouncing around in pricing there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight.
