How to Excel in the workplace

Some people are just plain lazy when it comes to excelling in the workplace. Most jobs don’t value a person that cannot do better all the time. Doing a better job and having a better attitude in the work place will get you promoted in no time but if you have a bad attitude you will get fired.

You may be fired for many reasons. If you are not doing a good job, meaning if you do not have a good representation of what was asked for, you may be fired. If you are late to work often and make excuses for why you were late when you should have gotten there on time, you may get fired. If you harass a fellow employee about things that they may take offense too, they may get you fired. If you do not pay attention to anything anyone else says, you would probably get fired for doing something stupid. No one likes someone that makes mistakes when given instructions.

You may be promoted but you have to work often and know a lot about what you are doing. Do your job well, for a long period of time and if there are promotion opportunities, a door may be opened for you. Always try to be on time to work. People that are often late for work may be fired. Always be nice to fellow employees. In doing this is creates a wonderfully happy work environment and people will like you. If you were to make fun of someone, they may report you and you could be fired. Make sure you always pay attention to what you and everyone around you are doing. If you do these things, you may be promoted.

In order to excel in the work place you must learn about your environment and chosen field of expertise. If you are a plumber you must know about different chemicals and piping in general to be able to do your job. You also have to know about all the tools of your trade. If you are a police man or woman you must know the law to fairly enforce the law. You must be nice and helpful to the general public because that is who you are sworn to protect. Harassing a civilian while in uniform mat get you fired, although police men and women generally get let off easy due to the corruption of the system nowadays.

Let us say that you are a dog catcher during the day and a cook at night time. If you wake up early and go catch dogs, then go into work to cook tired, you may get fired. It is always better to prioritize your life and your work. If the dog catcher worked at night and cooked during the day it would make more sense because no one will question a good smelling and looking meal. People will question a meal that has dog hairs or smells like mange.

In order to excel in the workplace you must also be aware of the corporate ladder. This is a golden opportunity to climb if the opportunity is presented to you. Do not ever hesitate if this is the life you chose. You may regret it for the rest of your life, and that may get you fired.
